Picton Premier Inns and Bed & Breakfasts

Picton is Prince Edward County's Town. Prior to that date, the separate villages of Picton and Hallowell Bridge occupied opposite sides of Picton Bay. Named after General Sir Thomas Picton, Wellington's second-in-command at the Battle of Waterloo, the Town of Picton has a rich history. It was here that Sir John A. MacDonald managed a law office for his uncle, Lowther P. MacPherson.

Picton offers excellent shopping facilities, live theatre, fine heritage homes and public buildings, a beautiful harbour with full service marina as well as six municipal parks including the grand Macaulay Heritage Park. As the seat of government for Prince Edward County, it houses the District Court and Land Registry Office. The Crystal Palace, located in the Fair Grounds on Main Street, Picton. This building, built in 1887, is a scaled down version of Joseph Paxtron's Crystal Palace built in 1851 in London, England.

The Gelnora Ferry may possibly be the only one left in North America. The Glenora Ferry, on the scenic and historic Loyalist Parkway (Hwy 33), connects Prince Edward County, Ontario with the mainland at the eastern entrance. The Loyalist Parkway, Picton's main street, offers a wide choice of accommodation, sightseeing and recreation for the whole family. A one meter wide paved shoulder has been provided for cyclists along its length. There are over 40 listed Archeaologic sites and at least 125 notable heritage buildings adjacent to the Parkway.
