From North Bay and going as far a you can go before you head south again at the North Pole and nearly as far west to the Manitoba border is the great, spectacular tourism region of Northern Ontario. Larger than most countries and with more lakes that you can count, it is a haven for recreationalists and sportsmen. The principal population centers in the Far North are North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Moosenee on Husdon Bay, Marathon, the twin cities of Thunder Bay, Fort Frances, Dryden and Kenora.
Modern highways exist in the south. All other travel is by logging roads, snowmobiles and float planes. Loads of wilderness, great parks and all the adventure you could use up in a life time. Go North! |
