In April 1997, Burlington received the "Great American Main Street Award" from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The award honors efforts to revitalize downtowns. Burlington has also been ranked as one of the "hippest arts towns in America" by John Villani in his book The 100 Best Small Art Towns, 1997. |
