London Ontario celebrated its 150th birthday in 2005, which was founded by Colonel John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada. It has grown into a thriving, vibrant community, and a prominent academic, medical and business centre. Doctor Frederick Banting, discoverer of insulin, hailed from London as did legendary big band leader Guy Lombardo. Nicknamed the Forest City, Londoners annually plant over a thousand trees in their city.
London offers a vast array of entertainment, events and sports for the whole family including: boating, world class golfing, skating rinks, horse racing, hot air ballooning, parks, double-decker bus tours and much more. Check if your visit coincides with one of the many annual festivals in the city such as Sunfest, Ribfest, Snowfest or the annual tree lighting in December. Excellent theatrical productions are presented year round and there are many fascinating museums, historical attractions, and art galleries.
London accommodations range from excellent 4-star hotels to charming, more modestly priced bed and breakfasts.
